being an egg isn't all it's cracked up to be

I know I know I'm sorry that was a bad joke, but Hoppy Easter everyone! Ok I'll stop with the eggcellent puns, happy* easter. Chicks.
My very drunken brother arrived home at 5am last night and put these outside mine and my Mum's bedroom. What a sweetie.

Despite the fact I nearly trod on it numerous times (that would cause an eggtraodinary mess), it made me laugh a bit. Along with the pouting Snapchats I got from him with a short message of "love you sis". Brilliant. For those who are new to this world of digital technology and its ever advancing ways- oops now I sound like I'm ranting in one of my Media essays- "Snapchat" is the latest craze of Apps on Apple and Android phones. You send each other a photo or short video clip for a limited amount of time for them to see, from 1-10 seconds and you can add a message to it. It sounds pretty pointless but don't knock it until you've tried it, serious fun. Not so fun when my brother sends me a (thankfully 1 second short) clip of his friends bum crack.

to infinity and beyond

No, I'm not watching Toy Story, though I wish I was. The rings I ordered from Etsy finally came, all the way from Bali in Indonesia. I got these two rings personalised with 'Mother' and 'Daughter' for Mum for Mother's Day. It's a Tiffany & Co. replica, sterling silver and the symbol represents infinity/eternity. Sadly as me and Mum were blessed with boney twigs for fingers, the rings are miles too big but we're hoping to get them resized. One of favourite pieces of jewellery, I love little keepsakes like these :)

Love my Mum. Thanks to Mary Ann and her shop MimicDesign on www.etsy.com for these little marvels!

charity shop raid

Bored, cold and isolated on the sofa- eyes fixed watching an episode of Friends I have probably seen for the 20th time round, me and Mum have decided to go on a charity shop raid in Hitchin. I'm looking for a wintry oversized cape coat or delicate tops with pretty peter pan collars. I'll see what I can rummage through and what bargains I can steal (not literally). This is a wardrobe revamp without the hit to my purse AND I'm doing my good deeds for the day; donating to charity and recycling clothes. Sorry Topshop I'm taking a break

Wrapping up in a pashmina and a woollen beret because the snow is bitttttterly cold today

bubbles and a film camera

There is something so magical, so refeshing about developing film photographs in a dark room. I always feel like I've gone back to the 70s or 80s. I spent four hours on Friday, (partly because I was enjoying it and partly because the deadline was by the end of that day) developing photo after photo and inhaling the heavy fumes of the chemicals.  This time it was for the first shoot of my Unit 2 AS Photography project, the theme being "covert and obscure". These are a few of what I managed to get, going with the idea of mixing bubbles/dreams/nature and misty daylight. I love how dreamy the photos came out- exactly what I intended. It's funny though because the model I used was my cousin, who is the absolute depiction of a 'bubbly' person, and unintentionally the photographs mirror her personality in one shot. One being that her personality is so bubbly but two being that 95% of the time she is most definitely in her own little bubble..

#brbchasinglight

iPhoneography. Inspired by the lovely Leanne Surfleet. Using light and shadows is my favourite, favourite thing. Edited using Instagram

chasing light

I think I've reached the conclusion that as much as I adore photography, I don't think I'd ever follow it for a career, just a hobby. I get these days or moments where I just go mad and crave taking photographs or I spam my whole Instagram news feed with (pretty pointless) pictures. Just love it. There is something so pleasing about a photograph you've taken, though most would say all you have to do it press a button.. well yes but in the most non "artisty-bullshitty-mentally-estranged" way- it is SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT!

After using Leanne Surfleet (a superly duperly good photographer) as a reference in my Unit 1 Photography project, emailing her, getting a response AND getting a follow back from her on Instagram; I've always wanted to try out her sunlight/shadows pictures. Seeing as sunlight is such a rarity in Britain, I definitely jumped at the chance today- all be it a tad too excitedly- when I noticed the faint blind strokes on the wall from the sun earlier. Here's some photos I took earlier using my iPhone, edited with an app called Polaroid and then uploaded on the beloved Instagram. Fun fun fun
